Accountable for provision of expert management services to the medical, surgical, OB/GYN and/or primary care practices assigned. Accountability is not limited to this list. Manage multiple locations and specialties as required. Responsible for the delivery of patient quality care and a balanced financial bottom line. Manage staff responsible for daily medical and practice support activities. Manage front end activities in clear and consistent manner, consistently seeking improvements to facilitate patient satisfaction and increased revenue so that the practice may effectively operate and develop new programs. Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, departmental and organization policies and procedures for Medical and Practice staff.The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
Directly supervise medical and practice personnel including interviewing, hiring recommendations, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; staff work schedules and overtime review
Work closely with senior management to develop business strategies, handle projects, formulate budgets and oversee daily operations of the Physician Practice
Work closely with billing and coding departments to ensure practices are current with coding and billing procedures and techniques
Conduct periodic audits within the practices to ensure performance metrics are met or exceeded
Responsible for ensuring front desk procedures are structured and adhered to by staff to minimize claim declines and enhance collections to the practice(s)
Advise senior management team of key issues, trends, and patient or physician issues and make recommendations to solve and streamline office procedures
Ensure all charge capture procedures are followed; reviews central drives to ensure charges are batched and initiated in timely and accurate manner
Review physician performance and increase scheduled appointments at intervals to ensure no patient backlogs
Verify and update patient information to ensure accuracy in the medical record with each encounter
Review registration procedures with staff to minimize duplicate record entries and accurateness of data
Monitor system to ensure medical and practice staff follow up for testing, prescriptions and similar services
Develop goals and objectives and monitor progress and achievement of same, in relation to practice operation
Train staff in office processes, procedures, revenue stream activities, and customer service initiatives
Assist in preparation of Operational and Capital Budgets, monitors monthly progress of same, and analyzes monthly variances
Able to perform staff functions to facilitate understanding, recommend process flow enhancements and may back up staff where staff shortages exist
Prepare payroll for appropriate sign off on a daily and bi-weekly basis
Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business administration required
Master’s degree in healthcare-related field or equivalent preferred
Membership in related professional association preferred
3 years of healthcare experience required
1 year of multi-practice, large practice with multiple locations, or faculty practice direct experience preferred
Knowledge of practice management systems and EMR’s required
Demonstrated familiarity with CPT & ICD10 coding
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for contact with management, employees, patients, families, community and medical staff
Ability to successfully interact with stakeholders (patients, providers, payers, community) and other customers, families, staff, management, physicians and public
Must be able to stand/walk up to 50% of shift
Must be able to sit up to 50% of shift
Must be able to bend up to 10% of shift
Must be able to lift/carry equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
Must be able to utilize keyboard and view computer screen up to 50% of shift
Must have good visual and hearing acuity
