Job Summary
we are seeking an operation leader in Tokyo office to oversight a team of 10+ staff. This person will be responsible for various functions including client & portfolio services, asset servicing, and fund operations for Japanese pension clients and Toshin funds, and also ensuring efficient, smooth and accurate operational processes. Apart from serving as an escalation point of contact for any operation-related matters, this person will also represent the operation team locally and globally, including participation in global projects.
Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following functions:
- Manage the team’s resources properly to continue supporting business growth
- Supervise and support the team to perform with accuracy and timeliness
- Ensure the team operates in line with local regulations or internal procedures with proper controls
- Take ownership of the client reporting process for institutional and pension clients, ensuring reports are delivered with the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, and timeliness. The ability to interpret and communicate complex data to clients is vital
- Champion best practices in client reporting, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance reporting quality and client experience
- Utilize and interpret performance metrics to support client reporting and operational decision-making; knowledge of performance measurement methodologies is considered an advantage
- Provide guidance on launching any new products/funds and termination of portfolios/funds
- Maintain good working relationships with local service providers, including Japanese trustee banks, custodians, and outsourcing vendors
- Actively participate in global initiatives and communicate with global teams regarding local requirements
- Continue to review workload and improve efficiency
Qualifications
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills in English and Japanese
- Minimum 20 years’ experience in operations at a global asset management company, with at least 10+ years in a team management role
- Experience supervising a team is a must
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration expected
- Extensive, hands-on experience in client reporting for institutional and pension clients is a requirement for this role. Candidates must demonstrate a proven record of delivering high-quality client reports and managing client relationships through effective reporting
- Proactive, accurate, able to prioritize ad hoc tasks, able to work under pressure, good at multi-tasking, and effective communication skills
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
