· Review and understand project contract documents, drawings, specifications, and relevant authority standards to ensure accurate survey execution and compliance with design requirements.
· Establish, verify, and maintain primary horizontal and vertical control points on site, including reference benchmarks and traverse networks.
· Coordinate with the Contractor’s surveyor to verify site benchmarks, layout, and control data prior to commencement of construction activities.
· Check and verify all setting-out works including alignment, levels, and coordinates for roads, utilities (wet and dry), structures, and other civil works to ensure accuracy and compliance with approved drawings.
· Monitor excavation levels, backfilling, and compaction layers to ensure compliance with approved design grades and tolerances.
· Inspect and confirm the correct installation of utilities, chambers, and ducts based on approved survey data and ensure correct cover levels and horizontal alignment.
· Conduct topographic and as-built surveys, ensuring data accuracy and proper submission of as-built drawings for approval.
· Verify survey instruments are properly calibrated and maintained as per project and QA/QC requirements.
· Assist the Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) in checking the contractor’s survey works, identifying discrepancies, and issuing site instructions as required.
· Record and document survey data, prepare survey reports, and maintain field books for all inspection and verification activities.
· Ensure the contractor’s survey team follows approved method statements and safety procedures during survey activities.
· Perform joint surveys with the contractor and client representatives for measurement verification, payment quantities, and handover purposes.
· Ensure all utilities and structures are constructed to correct levels and alignments before covering or backfilling works.
· Participate in resolving survey-related issues or conflicts on site, including interface coordination between different packages or contractors.
· Report any discrepancies, deviations, or errors found in the contractor’s setting out to the RE/ARE immediately.
· Monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance during survey activities and report any unsafe practices observed on site.
