As a Technology Principal, you'll work directly with our largest government and financial services clients, working collaboratively to solve their most complex digital challenges, applying critical thinking to break down problems and identify practical solutions - thinking about performance, scalability, security and resilience from the start. You might start your week reviewing a technical strategy for a major government department, then spend time with a project team working through integration challenges on a live service, before presenting a solution approach to a client's senior leadership team.
Your background building and deploying enterprise-scale digital services means you can credibly advise on what works in practice, using systems thinking to understand how technical decisions connect across the broader service and business context. Whether that's designing microservices architectures for AWS or Azure, helping a bank modernise their data platform while meeting strict security requirements, or working with a delivery team to recover a struggling project by identifying risks and adjusting approach, you'll bring both strategic thinking and hands-on experience to every situation.
You'll collaborate with diverse teams including user researchers, product managers, software engineers and business stakeholders, taking a stakeholder-focused approach to balance different perspectives and needs while understanding the commercial context. Part of your time will involve business development - presenting to potential clients, writing technical proposals including sizing and estimation work, and helping win new work that supports business growth across your accounts. You'll need to balance priorities across multiple engagements, often working to tight deadlines.
As part of our central architecture team, you'll work alongside experienced peers who share your passion for solving complex technical challenges. This gives you a strong support network to bounce ideas off, learn from different perspectives, and tackle problems collaboratively. We recognise that nobody knows everything from day one - you'll bring your proven experience and apply it to new challenges, while staying current with industry trends. The role offers excellent opportunities for continuous learning through our internal communities, representing Version 1 at conferences and industry events, and working directly with clients on cutting-edge projects. The variety keeps things interesting, and your expertise helps our clients build user-centered digital services that deliver meaningful outcomes for the people who use them.
