Summary:
The Auto Body Technician is responsible for performing advanced collision and structural repairs, including aluminum repairs, to restore vehicles to pre-accident condition. This role requires strong diagnostic ability, structural repair expertise, and aluminum repair certification to ensure all work meets manufacturer and industry standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review repair orders and perform advanced body and structural collision repairs efficiently and accurately
- Perform aluminum panel and structural repairs in accordance with OEM and I-CAR standards
- Complete frame and structural repairs using proper measuring and welding equipment
- Repair or replace damaged aluminum and steel panels, fenders, bumpers, and structural components
- Perform aluminum welding and bonding procedures per manufacturer specifications
- Ensure proper isolation procedures when working with aluminum to prevent cross-contamination
- Collaborate with estimators and Body Shop leadership to identify structural and supplemental repairs
- Document all work performed in the repair order system accurately and in real time
- Conduct final inspections to ensure repairs meet manufacturer certification standards and customer expectations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean, safe, and proper working condition
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal and safety procedures
