SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Service Technician will be responsible for the refurbishment of mechanical seals and associated activities in a highly professional seal repair environment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Dismantling and cleaning of mechanical seals and parts under repair.
- Inspection of mechanical seals and seal cartridges.
- Prepare inspection report with full knowledge of failure modes.
- Prepare breakdown of parts required for the repair in accordance with the seal repair analysis procedures.
- Seal faces reconditioning by lapping and polishing.
- Assemble and repair mechanical seals and seal cartridges in accordance with John Crane drawings and specifications including locally manufactured metal parts, repaired metal and non-metal parts when needed.
- Testing of mechanical seals and seal cartridges in accordance with John Crane specifications.
- Manage local inventory of seal spares for both contractual and transactional repairs.
- Ensures quality & safety within functions/ tasks performed by himself/herself and staff reporting to him/her
- Responsible for exercising due diligence towards health & safety of self and others within the organization
- Ensures compliance with the applicable HSE instructions, requirements, laws and regulations received from customers, regulatory and statutory bodies
- Participation in continuous improvement activities.
