Senior WTP Glass Scientist - Hanford Site Technical Support (Part-Time) [1.02C]

ProSidian Seeks a Senior WTP Glass Scientist - Hanford Site Technical Support (Part-Time) headquartered near Richland, WA 99321 to support engagement for the DOE Office of River Protection (ORP) - an independent office at the DOE Site in eastern Washington state with the exclusive focus of remediating and solving the DOE’s tank cleanup challenges. ORP’s mission is to protect the Columbia River by safely cleaning up radioactive and chemical waste contained in underground storage tanks located at the DOE Site. 

This Part-Time position currently best aligns with the Consultant III Labor Category and ideal candidates exhibit the ability to visualize, analyze, and convert data and experiences to meet performance challenges while confidently engaging in productive dialogue targeting mission success. 

The ProSidian Engagement Team Members work to provide Site Technical Support Services assistance including technical support services in environmental remediation, and related technical and administrative program management support expertise and assistance in carrying out responsibilities to plan, direct and oversee design, construction, environmental remediation, cleanup and operation of government facilities to support ORP at Hanford in Eastern Washington (Tri-Cities - Kennewick | Pasco | Richland) Area.

Part-Time Senior WTP Glass Scientist - Hanford Site Technical Support Candidates shall work to support requirements for ORP Site Technical Support Services and provide services as an ORP Safety Basis Review Team (SBRT) Subject Matter Expert (SME).  The SBRT follows a Safety Basis Review Plan and lines of inquiry to ensure the thoroughness of the review.  The SBRT includes members with appropriate subject matter expertise in nuclear safety, criticality safety, and safety systems oversight.

Specifically, the focus is on treating the tank waste fed to the WTP Low Activity Waste (LAW) and High-Level Waste (HLW) Facilities to be vitrified in Joule-heated ceramic-lined Melter.  The Senior Glass Scientist shall provide part-time support as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ORP/WTP and function in the roles of glass scientist who:

• Conduct research in vitrification, glass formulation and waste glass melting
• Provide detailed research evaluations in order to ensure that credible engineering input based upon sound scientific principles can be utilized by the WTP in support of its mission.
• Perform as a subject matter expert (SME) on the ORP Safety Basis Review Team (SBRT),
• Preferences are for readily applicable expertise, however, consideration will be given to the ability to obtain and apply skills.
