ProSidian Seeks a Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer - Engineering (DS111) (Time and Materials | Exempt Engagement Team - Senior Consultant Level) to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. - DS111 | Prof. This position is located in the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina Area.
Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer - Engineering (DS111) Candidates shall work to support requirements for TBC (Engineering Services) and statement of work (SOW) while maintaining required qualifications Nuclear & Environmental Management Sector. ProSidian Team Members work as part of the Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer Engagement Team Cadre to serve as an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer responsible for performing a variety of Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineering assignments, including design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of various process equipment and systems, and generally as a member of a design, construction, operations, or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex projects. In addition, support and engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which the US Department of Energy owns.
Provide support engineering services to assigned SRR Engineering Teams. Engineering support services include engineering analysis, walk downs, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: P&IDs; Control Logics; Loop Diagrams; Instrument Indices; Setpoint Lists; Instrument and Control Valve Specifications; DCS and PLC Design; Instrument Location and Installation Design; Panel Layouts; and Vendor Document Review. Individual at times will be required to travel off Site to interface with vendors, fabricators and other Engineering organizations. Engineering services will be provided using SRR processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRR.
A background in Instrumentation and Control Systems is required for this role as well as experience and qualifications for working in a highly regulated field like the Department of Energy or Aeronautics. Most modern control systems employ a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to control motors, pumps, valves, and other equipment used in a process. Computer-based HMI (Human Machine Interface) products provide how to process personnel interact with the PLC control system. Control and instrumentation (C&I) engineers are responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery, and processes. Work will include developing a conceptual design and related design basis documents to support new Nuclear Generating Plant licensing preparation of specifications and bid packages for control systems and detailed I&C design for a new generating plant.
This service supports Environmental Management Sector Clients (For Present / Future Requirements), and ProSidian Team Members work as part of an Engagement Team Cadre to fulfill Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineering requirements. An Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer, or Facilities Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer, designs, builds, and tests various mechanical devices, like industrial machines, transportation systems, and robotics equipment. In addition, Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineers perform many Instrumentation and Control, scientific and technical tasks related to the process of Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector products/services/deliverables. Some of their typical duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following worksite functionalities (Specific Task Order Performance Work Statements May supersede listed tasks for this role):
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Qualification, Skills, and Experience to include:
A) Development of Control System architecture
B) Modifications to operating Nuclear plants: Familiarity with the Nuclear standard Design Process, and experience preparing engineering drawings, including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams, instrument hookups, etc. for plant modification packages, including digital upgrades
C) preparation of specifications for control systems for plant process/auxiliary systems
D) preparation and review of logic diagrams and system functional descriptions for implementation of a system control logic into plant control systems
E) experience evaluating and specifying pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation
F) Experience performing calculations for a Nuclear plant such as instrument set-points
G) Familiarity with IEEE, EPRI, ISA, and IAEA Codes and Standards and NRC Reg Guides relating to Nuclear plant licensing and design
H) Supervisory experience to include preparation and control of budgets and schedules for I&C Engineering/Design group, preparation of material and engineering cost estimates, and technical supervision of engineering/design team
TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, events, site visits, or other training requirements. Travel is coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in advance, as allowed, in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.
LOCATION: Work shall be conducted at or in proximity to Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina
WORK HOURS: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRS holidays. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.
