JOB OVERVIEW
GENERAL PROGRAM SUPPORT BY THE SAFETY COORDINATOR
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing safety policies and procedures that promote a safe work environment. This involves working with management to identify potential safety hazards and to develop plans to address them.
- Ensuring that all employees are trained in safety procedures and practices which includes conducting safety orientations for new employees and providing ongoing training for current employees.
- Regularly inspecting the company's facilities and work sites to identify potential safety hazards and to ensure that safety policies and procedures are being followed.
- Investigating accidents and incidents and determining the cause and making recommendations to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
- Maintaining safety training, inspections, and incidents records.
- Communicating safety information to employees, management, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Staying up-to-date on federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensure that the company is in compliance with these regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
- Certified as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or a Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).
- 5 years of experience in a related field, such as industrial hygiene or occupational health and safety.
- Must have a strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to workplace safety.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with employees, management, and other stakeholders to promote a safe work environment.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to identify potential safety hazards and develop plans to address them.
- Must be able to analyze complex situations and develop solutions to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Overall, should have a strong background in occupational health and safety, along with the necessary certifications, experience, and skills to effectively promote a safe work environment.
