Provide services and support as an Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) Coordinator (IH103) at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina. Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) Coordinator - Industrial Hygiene (IH103) works collaboratively as part of the ProSidian Engagement Team as Non-Exempt W2: 1.5X Overtime Eligible personnel. Dedicated Planned Labor Hours (DPLH) of 1280 Straight Time (ST) Estimated Annual Quantity (Hrs. Per Yr.) | 200 Overtime Time (OT) Estimated Annual Quantity (Hrs. Per Yr.).
This is a Labor Hour Subcontract or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) Position, and ProSidian reserves the right to convert to a Full-Time ProSidian employed W-2 Position. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) Coordinator - Industrial Hygiene (IH103)
Provide daily supervision of heat-stress subcontractors, including scheduling, assignments, and performance monitoring. Refer heat stress subcontractor performance issues to S&IH for disposition. Report to Sr. S&IH manager with respect to contract administration. Matrixed to S&IH field managers supporting three separate facilities. The purpose of the position is to provide field support for the Industrial Hygiene Program, ensuring Federal, State, Company, and Site requirements regarding exposure to potential physical and chemical hazards to facility personnel. Functions including but not limited to:
- Perform field industrial hygiene evaluations (e.g., heat strain, chemicals);
- Perform worker exposure assessments for chemical and physical hazards;
- Prepare technical reports; and
- Communicate issues and results with employees and management in a professional manner.
- Responsibilities & Expectations
- Assist S&IH to implement heat stress management program.
- Complete required training and qualifications, including function of electronic heat stress monitoring software used to evaluate workers’ core body temperature against established thresholds. See https://slatesafety.com/ for more information.
- Coordinate with line management to monitor and anticipate facility needs, then plan for and schedule support for work that requires heat stress monitoring and/or subcontractor oversight to confirm controls are in place and being implemented.
- Schedule and assign heat-stress subcontractors to support facility work priorities and schedules, including coordinating work assignments for rotating shifts, weekend work, and overtime.
- Notes On Work Schedule Management:
- Rotate work schedules and facility assignments as deemed necessary.
- Limit overtime to the extent practical.
- Rotate overtime assignments to share the opportunity.
- Coordinate subcontractor overtime approval prior to work being performed.
- Overtime will be limited to the extent practical.
- Provide status reports to S&IH staff responsible for subcontractor End User functions, including time charge approval and overtime hours.
- Coordinate daily and long-term issue/collection of monitoring equipment.
- Monitor and respond to software notifications that evaluate workers’ core body temperature against established thresholds. May include direct response and/or subcontractor assignment.
- Perform hands-on field support as necessary (e.g., surge in field needs, availability of subcontractors)
- Perform work and make decisions commensurate with assigned scope of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, training, and qualification.
- Perform surveillance and assign workplace inspections to confirm compliance with heat stress requirements. Submit reports using established inspection criteria and report templates (e.g., Management Field Observations).
- Assign subcontractors, as necessary, to perform other IH monitoring in addition to heat stress. Confirm subcontractors are assigned within limits of their training and qualification.
- Maintain required records and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
