Summary: Trains in all areas of the maintenance department and areas of responsibilities throughout the plant. This position will require movements between all shifts and departments for training purposes. The position will require mechanical and electrical training to direct maintenance employees. Employees will be required to accept a maintenance department supervisor position when one arises. Set up and operates a variety of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned. This position is a full-time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position.
- Responsible for supporting a safe work environment and promoting safety engagement in the department.
- Ensures all plant production areas are maintained daily and are kept clean and orderly, free from maintenance spare parts, decommissioned parts, and general trash.
- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine need for adjustment or repair.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine type and dimensions of metal stock required.
- Build daily and weekly schedules for all maintenance trades technicians
- Oversees work of subordinates who perform the following duties:
- Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective parts.
- Replace defective parts with new parts, or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
- Assemble, test, and operates machines to verify correction of malfunction.
- Maintain and lubricate machine tools and equipment
- Ensure that all hydraulic and water pumps are working correctly and are ready for production.
- Inspect work of subordinate workers.
- Orders parts for machines.
- Ensures employees comply with all housekeeping, safety and plant rules, policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively within department and with other departments.
- Fosters positive work relationships.
- Observes and enforces all Company, housekeeping, safety and plant policies and procedures.
- Has strong written, oral, communication and facilitation skills.
- Recommend action to Maintenance Manager on personnel management matters.
- Trains, develops, mentors, and assists subordinates.
- Creates and maintains a culture of continuous improvement.
- Addresses errors, problems, and complaints within scope of authority.
- Motivates and encourages teamwork within the department to ensure productivity targets are met.
- Keeps Maintenance Manager and other key managers informed of important matters as appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises electrical and mechanical technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company鈥檚 policies, practices, and procedures. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and directing work; interviewing, rewarding and disciplining employees; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
