Summary:
Provide for the effective use of personnel, materials, and machine downtime to maintain production equipment availability and performance at satisfactory levels through the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and reporting of repair activities. The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials, and equipment access. Processes preventive and corrective maintenance work orders generated by the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Verifies information on the work orders; applies job plans and instructions when needed; distributes to appropriate supervisor/labor person; schedules work to be completed.
This role reports to the Planning Manager.

- Prepare for safety program activities by reviewing the safety work request backlog and actively pursuing completion and job scheduling.
- Review work requests, work orders, and obtain proper approvals for repairs. Publish daily Preventative Maintenance schedules.
- Track KPI metrics. (% Break In, % Planned, % Emergency, and Safety Work Requests < 30 days).
- Plan the work for outside contractors, make contracts, field investigations, file searches to define scope of work and organize jobs in a timely manner.
- Obtain materials by stores requisition, purchase order or prefabrication and insure correctness and specifications.
- Create new item numbers for material as needed and add to the equipment asset spare parts list
- Plan maintenance jobs with assistance of the maintenance supervisors, to identify and provide materials, manning requirements and other support need to complete required work.
- Utilize the CMMS to improve, modify and add Bill of Materials (BOM), Preventive Maintenance Tasks (PM), controlled documents, standard job plans, JSA, drawings, etc.
- Facilitate the weekly Planning meeting to include Operations & Maintenance
- Create work order packets and job kits for craftsmen.
- Works with Operations and Maintenance Supervisor to develop weekly work schedules and down time schedules.
- Engage contractors, servicemen or engineering support as required.
- Maintain all required files and computer updates.
- Develop weekly schedules based upon safety work requests and work orders, work order backlog, Reliability findings, repair and rebuild reports, etc.
- Build outage maintenance schedules with work orders and manning.
- Work with Planning Manager on annual outage to develop area work lists, manning, contractors, etc. for development of Gantt chart.
- Support precision maintenance practices (alignement, bearing installations, lubrication, etc.)
- Review work orders for environmental impact and consult the environmental department as necessary.
- Manage Maintenance Spare Parts Inventory. Experience with Inventory Management Systems a plus.
- Extended hours and weekends as needed.
