As a Software Engineering Manager of the Data Catalog team at LinkedIn, you will be part of our world-class software engineering team that is building the next generation of Data Management鈥攅volving from static, human-driven tooling to Agentic Data Management, where intelligent systems actively understand, reason over, and assist with data usage, governance, and reliability at scale.
The Data Catalog team sits at the center of this transformation. We own metadata collection, insights into data ecosystem, data lineage, and data discoverability, and are responsible for turning fragmented metadata into a living, queryable, and actionable knowledge graph that powers both humans and AI agents. This org will be foundational to enabling agentic workflows at LinkedIn鈥攑owering AI agents to reason over metadata, lineage, ownership, freshness, and quality to proactively assist users and deliver a delightful data engineering experience.
As part of this transformational journey, we are looking for passionate individuals that would drive strategy in the following areas:
Data Lineage: Design and implement scalable End-to-End (E2E) lineage systems to track data flow, support impact and root-cause analysis, and integrate with other tools in the company
Ecosystem Insights & Intelligence: Provide visibility into the health, usage, and evolution of the data ecosystem, driving continuous improvement in data craftsmanship through actionable insights and metrics, and enabling a sustainable, resilient data ecosystem over time.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach and manage core team of engineers working on building the infrastructure.
Participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap for the team and company.
Dive deep into technical discussions to challenge the status quo, and steer the team in the right direction/to push the envelope.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across engineering and business leadership.
Help the team realize their potential by setting clear expectations, openly evaluating performance, upholding accountability, and providing challenges to stretch their skills.
Drive a culture of operational excellence. Lead the team into defining performance goals, metrics and building the infrastructure and tooling necessary to maintain a high quality bar and detect issues in real time.
Create an inclusive work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, innovation and learning, while holding a high bar for quality.
