The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining complex enterprise network infrastructures to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. The role involves advanced configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco and Fortinet network and security solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems. The Senior Network Engineer serves as the technical lead for network projects, provides guidance to junior engineers, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support business continuity and digital transformation initiatives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, deploy, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center network infrastructure using Cisco and Fortinet technologies.
- Configure and optimize Cisco routers, switches (Catalyst, Nexus), and Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer) for secure connectivity.
- Develop and implement network segmentation, QoS, and traffic management policies to improve performance and security.
- Lead the planning and execution of network upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansion projects.
- Network Security and Compliance
- Implement and manage Fortinet security solutions including FortiGate, FortiAuthenticator, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiManager.
- Apply Cisco ASA, Cisco ISE, and Cisco Umbrella security policies to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
- Manage and monitor VPNs (site-to-site, SSL) and ensure secure remote connectivity.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and participate in incident response for network-related security events.
- Operations and Support
- Monitor network performance, availability, and utilization using tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, or Forti Analyzer.
- Diagnose and resolve advanced network issues within defined SLAs.
- Maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, and configuration repositories.
- Provide L3-level support and serve as an escalation point for complex network problems.
- Collaboration and Project Management
- Work closely with system, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to integrate network systems with enterprise platforms.
- Participate in vendor management, procurement, and evaluation of new network technologies.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and network policies.
- Lead or assist in the planning of disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity network strategies.
- Training and Mentoring
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
- Conduct training sessions on Cisco and Fortinet best practices and technologies.
