The Systems Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting Windows, Office 365, and Azure Cloud environments to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing IT services across on-premises and cloud platforms. The role includes administering Windows Server, Azure infrastructure, virtualization platforms, and Office 365 services, while supporting cloud migrations, backup, and disaster recovery initiatives. The Systems Specialist troubleshoots and resolves incidents, performs routine maintenance, and implements configurations in line with organizational standards, security policies, and service level agreements. Working closely with internal IT teams and vendors, the role participates in change management, disaster recovery, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering seamless, secure operations that support business objectives.
General
- Manage and optimize IT environments across Windows Server, Azure, Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams), email security, and hybrid systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
- Perform routine system updates, patching, and maintenance to maintain stability, security, and compliance.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support for servers, virtual environments, Active Directory, Office 365, and end-user escalations, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business disruption.
- Participate in capacity planning, system upgrades, disaster recovery testing, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and resilience.
Windows Server & Desktop Management
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy, ensuring secure identity, authentication, and network management across hybrid environments.
- Support and optimize Hyper-V virtualization environments, ensuring scalability, high availability, and efficient workload management.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and security hardening.
Azure Cloud Management
- Configure and manage Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking, storage, database services, and cost optimization to support cloud-first strategies.
- Implement and maintain Azure AD, security policies, and compliance settings.
- Monitor cloud performance and optimize cost efficiency.
- Lead cloud migration initiatives, optimizing Azure resource usage, implementing governance, and ensuring cost efficiency.
Office 365 Administration
- Configure and manage Office 365 services, including user provisioning, access controls, email configurations, and collaboration tools, ensuring secure and efficient communication.
Security & Compliance
- Monitor system health and security using tools such as Azure Monitor and Azure Security Center, responding to incidents, vulnerabilities, and potential threats.
- Manage email security systems and domain protection solutions, including DMARC, DKIM, and SPF, to safeguard against phishing, spoofing, and unauthorized email use.
- Manage and secure file servers across physical and cloud environments, ensuring reliable access, backup, and data protection.
- Apply security best practices across Windows, Office 365, and Azure.
- Monitor for vulnerabilities and implement remediation measures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions for critical applications, virtual machines, and data across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Test disaster recovery plans regularly
Technical Support & Documentation
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for Windows, Office 365, and Azure-related issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations and procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, backup procedures, disaster recovery plans, and compliance audits.
