About The Role
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Environmental Risk Assessment Specialist. The successful candidate will have a University Degree (Master鈥檚 of Doctorate preferred) in toxicology, engineering or science and a minimum of 10-15 years experience in federal and provincial human health and ecological risk assessments. In addition, the successful candidate will lead business development activities in the risk assessment field and mentor intermediate and junior employees in the areas of risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, design, and conduct Human Health Risk Assessments (HHRA) and Ecological Risk Assessments (ERA) for projects in the mining, nuclear, and contaminated sites sectors.
- Apply and interpret O. Reg. 153/04 requirements, including PRA/DSRA, vapour intrusion assessments, and development of risk management measures.
- Provide senior technical input on environmental impact assessments (federal, provincial), licensing submissions, and regulatory approvals.
- Review technical work, provide constructive feedback, and support staff skill development.
- Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate risk assessors.
- Prepare and present technical content for clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, and stakeholders.
- Lead environmental impact assessments and other licensing/permitting activities for a variety of mining and energy clients.
- Support proposal writing, project scoping, and client relationship development.
- Be an emerging leader in the risk assessment community;
- Contribute to development and implementation of risk assessment strategy with other team members to grow the business; and
- Work with other innovative thinkers to cultivate business development opportunities.
