The Senior Draftsman โ Tekla 3D RC Modeller is responsible for delivering high-quality 3D reinforced concrete models and detailing using Tekla Structures for the most complex buildings of the EPR Nuclear Island on Sizewell C.
The role is primarily production-focused, with strong technical autonomy on RC modelling, working in close coordination with the Chief Draftsman and the BIM Coordinator within a BIM-managed and regulated nuclear environment.
Scope of Works โ Nuclear Island Buildings
The role will primarily support modelling activities for Nuclear Island structures, including:
- Reactor Buildings and Common Raft
- Fuel Buildings
- Safeguard Buildings
- Airplane Crash-resistant Buildings
These structures involve very thick RC sections, high reinforcement densities, complex embedments, and stringent constructability constraints.
Key Responsibilities
3D RC Modelling & Detailing (Tekla)
- Develop and maintain 3D reinforced concrete models using Tekla Structures.
- Model complex RC elements, including:
- Common rafts, basemats, thick walls and slabs
- Highly congested reinforcement layouts
- Openings, penetrations, embedments, and construction joints
- Produce RC detailing deliverables:
- General Arrangement (GA) drawings
- Reinforcement drawings
- Bar Bending Schedules (BBS)
- Accurately implement engineering sketches, mark-ups, and design comments into the Tekla model.
BIM Environment & Coordination
- Work within a BIM-managed environment in accordance with the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
- Coordinate closely with:
- Chief Draftsman / Lead RC Detailer for technical direction and prioritisation
- BIM Coordinator for model federation, clash management, and exchanges
- Ensure Tekla models comply with:
- Model structure and naming conventions
- Required Level of Detail (LOD) and Level of Information (LOI)
- Support the resolution of clashes and interface issues identified during coordination reviews.
Quality, Nuclear Context & Compliance
- Deliver modelling outputs in compliance with:
- Project procedures and nuclear quality requirements
- Applicable design codes (Eurocodes, RCC-CW where applicable)
- Apply a strong nuclear safety culture in all modelling activities.
- Manage model revisions in line with document and model control processes.
- Support responses to design reviews and construction queries related to RC detailing.
