Egis UK is seeking a highly experienced Senior Commercial Manager to lead commercial strategy and delivery across complex, high-value programmes in the Water & Environment sector, with opportunities to expand into Defence and Nuclear. This is a pivotal leadership role for a commercially astute professional who thrives on driving performance, influencing strategic outcomes, and mentoring high-performing teams.
Your Role & Impact
As Senior Commercial Manager, you will be reporting to the Water Cost and Commercial Lead. You will also:
- Provide executive-level oversight of commercial operations across multi-disciplinary programmes
- Shape and implement procurement and contract strategies that align with client objectives and regulatory frameworks
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, regulators, and delivery partners
- Champion commercial innovation, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
- Location: West Midlands-based (4 days client's office and 1 day WFH)
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Commercial Leadership
- Define and execute commercial strategy across multi-workstream programmes
- Lead contract negotiation, supplier performance, and risk management
- Ensure compliance with NEC3/4, FIDIC, UK law, and sector-specific regulations
- Support work winning through commercial insight and bid strategy
- Drive commercial governance and reporting across all phases
Project & Cost Management
- Oversee cost planning, benchmarking, and value engineering
- Manage post-contract commercial performance, change control, and final accounts
- Provide strategic input into feasibility studies and programme controls
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with leadership to shape client-focused proposals
- Mentor and develop junior commercial staff, building future capability
- Maintain a robust knowledge base of lessons learned and commercial best practices
What You Bring
- Strong financial modelling and commercial problem-solving skills
- Excellent client-facing and supply chain engagement abilities
- Sector experience in water, environment, defence, or nuclear
- In-depth knowledge of CDM regulations and risk management
- NEC3/4 contract expertise (Options A, C, E essential)
- Familiarity with ECI/ESI in design & build programmes
- Valid CSCS card; Water Hygiene Card desirable
- Right to work in the UK; role subject to client interview and acceptance
