Overall Purpose
The primary objective of a Senior Architect is to achieve excellence in design while properly representing the company and its design philosophy. The role serves to provide a primary point of contact for all design related issues involving clients and external consultants. Further, the role is also responsible for managing the architectural design team/s on one or more simultaneously projects, and ensuring smooth coordination from all disciplines to ensure an appropriate, high quality architectural product is delivered on time and within the outline budget.
Key Objectives
- Evaluate, confirm, document, monitor and control the client brief
- Effective coordination of all company disciplines, ie Architecture, Landscape, 3D Visualisation, MEP and Interior Design
- Effective design coordination and promotion of design quality
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for the client, all external consultants and other disciplines
- Management of the architectural team
- Management and coordination of internal and external changes into main project
- Establishment, monitoring and maintenance of project milestones
- Ensure smooth transition between design team and project team
- Ensure smooth transition between project team and post-contract team
- Ensure statutory requirements are fulfilled throughout the project
- Ensure QA/QC procedures are properly implemented by the project team
Key Responsibilities
- Effective management of the Design Process
- Produce high quality design work in line with the 10 Design Philosophy
- Ownership and responsibility for the maintaining the client brief
- Thorough research into the design brief and subject matter
- Produce sketches, options, diagrams etc to effectively communicate the design options, opportunities and challenges that the client needs to be aware of
- Deliver the designs effectively and in a timely manner
- Effective management of the team
- Effective team management with clear communication, clearly identified tasks and targets
- Encouragement and support of team and personal development
- Acknowledgement of individual qualities and allocation of roles to suit qualities and abilities
- Acknowledgement of experience and need for additional experience where required
- Effective coordination
- When required in the terms of appointment, establish, chair and record minutes for project team, coordination and architectural team meetings
- Ensure effective integration of client requirements into project, implementing change control procedures where appropriate

- Check drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and effective coordination between other disciplines and consultants

- Monitor architectural team output , and where applicable check other disciplines and consultants output to ensure design quality and QA/QC standards are maintained
