Pay starting at $26-$28 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities
As the Safety Technician, you will have the opportunity to perform environmental, health & safety activities in an industrial setting to ensure compliance with occupational environmental, health & safety regulations by performing the following duties.
- Advise on provisions needed to minimize safety risks
- Develop and enforce health & safety policies as well as applicable occupational environmental, health & safety regulatory standards
- Direct incident investigation procedures
- Keep records of environmental, health & safety-related workplace incidents and propose corrective actions
- Train associates on environmental, health & safety requirements to ensure compliance with policies as well as applicable Federal and State environmental, health & safety standards
- Monitor, assist with and ensure compliance with written health, safety & environmental programs
- Identify safety hazards and prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action
- Coordinate or assist with required annual occupational health exams (ex.: hearing tests) and disbursement of PPE vouchers (ex.: safety footwear vouchers)
- Investigate and determine root cause of incidents to identify preventative safety measures for incorporation into the safety program.
- Conduct trend analysis, audits, incident investigations and site inspections of operational procedures
- Coordinate with responsible facility personnel to consistently maintain adequate safety supplies & equipment including inventory, disbursement, ordering, expiration dates, etc.
- Render First Aid care to associates as needed
- Work closely with management and associates in promoting a safety awareness and hazard prevention culture
- Perform or assist with new hire orientation, BBS and annual safety training
- Conduct Personal Protective Equipment hazard assessments of all Production positions
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
- Ability to multitask and work competently and independently under pressure
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and use a computer, printer, copier and other common business office equipment
- Ability to speak effectively before various groups of associates of the organization
- Ability to travel as required
