Senior Design Engineer

Hours: Full-Time – 35 Hours

Only candidates who are permanent in the Civil Engineer title, those who are reachable on DDC Promotional List (Exam #4522), or reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #4030) may apply. The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer join the Design Unit – Section 5.

The successful candidate will work on projects in support of the Southeast Queens Initiatives. The selected candidate will plan and review the work of subordinates within a squad to ensure that sound engineering judgment is being utilized; prepare basic design plans for significant or complex roadway, sewer, and water main projects; review and approve the work of outside consultants and contractors; and ensure that all work performed follows contract drawings.

Additionally, the Senior Design Engineer will perform the design and/or review of structures; make interpretive detailed sketches or layouts of intricate designs; prepare final specifications and estimates; and train and mentor new hires.
