THE DIVISION:
The Housing Division advises the Executive Office and City Planning Commission on a wide range of housing policy issues (including relevant ULURP and CEQR applications) and conducts planning studies and initiatives of citywide scope for the agency. The division has a team of data and policy analysts who compile routine data and analysis to guide the activities of borough planning offices and other divisions at DCP.
In conjunction with the agency’s IT division, the Division maintains and provide routine analysis of databases related to housing, including the tracking of development and alterations of buildings citywide. The Division also coordinates directly with the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Department of Buildings, and other City and State agencies on data analysis, policy development, and the administration of joint programs such as the Inclusionary Housing program.
THE ROLE:
The work of Housing Division is split between quantitative analysis and data production tasks, on the one hand, and housing policy initiatives and public outreach on the other. With the Director, the Senior Lead for Housing Policy is responsible for the housing policy and public outreach component of Housing Division’s portfolio. This includes project lead for DCP initiatives led by Housing Division, as well as a primary liaison role for interagency housing initiatives. The Senior Lead for Housing Policy will also play a chief outreach role, including developing public presentations and other materials and representing agency and administration housing initiatives in public settings.
The Senior Lead for Housing Policy will:
- Manage the administration’s soon to be announced TOD initiative and other housing policy initiatives led by Housing Division
- Serve as primary DCP liaison for the Mayor’s LIFT initiative and other interagency initiatives
- Lead division outreach and communication efforts around housing policy initiatives, including material development and public presentations
- Other Housing Division duties as they may arise
