The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system鈥檚 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
The Bureau of Water Supply seeks to hire a Principal Administrative Associate I for a position with The Regulatory & Engineering Programs section within the Bureau of Water Supply鈥檚 Source Water Protection directorate. This position is located in Arkville, New York.
Under direction of the, Administrative Project Engineer (M1), the Principal Administrative Associate I will assist staff with processing, tracking and distribution of materials related to regulatory applications under the Rules and Regulations for the Protection from Contamination, Degradation, and Pollution of the New York City Water Supply and Its Sources (Watershed Regulations). The candidate will be responsible for database entries, assisting with preparing and distributing staff correspondence, processing correspondence for regulatory applications, filing, archiving, assisting with scheduling meetings, attending and assisting with coordination during meetings, and assisting with general administrative functions in DEP鈥檚 Arkville office.
Specific duties include:
- Maintaining the WaLIS database for West of Hudson Arkville Section REP projects. Creates and uploads entries into projects. Scrutinizes data to ensure accurate information is entered into the database and project files.
- Performing general office duties such as word processing, filling, copying and distributing mail.
- Assisting in the preparation of approval/denial determinations and other project correspondence as recommended by the project reviewer.
- Assisting in tracking regulatory violations and attending internal meetings to serve as support staff.
- Assisting with the implementation of programs and tasks required under the USEPA Filtration Avoidance Determination by compiling technical input and assisting with the preparation of annual
reports.
- Utilizing the Geographical Information System (GIS) and agency database for project creation, tracking and management.
- Providing administrative support for offices engaged in departmental, administrative or management activities.
- Providing support for personnel management program covering a large number of employees.
