The Candidate Assessment Division is responsible for overseeing the character investigation, physical agility testing, medical screening, and psychological testing of candidates seeking uniformed and civilian employment with the New York City Police Department.
Under supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, these positions will perform professional work of more than ordinary difficulty in the field of investigation; review case records and reports and, based thereon, make recommendations as to action to be taken. May be assigned to investigations which are more than ordinary difficulty by reason of greater complexity or hazard; make emergency and special investigations; prepare written and statistical reports by utilizing computer systems to assists the processing of investigations; supervise a small unit in conducting routine investigations. In the temporary absence of their supervisors, may assume the duties of that position, and perform related work.
