AECOM is currently seeking a skilled Construction Cost Analyst to support the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority within the Airport Design & Construction (ADC) department.
The Construction Cost Analyst is responsible for reviewing, validating, and analyzing contractor and consultant pay applications and supporting cost-management activities for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects. This role ensures accurate processing of invoices and change orders, supports financial reporting and reconciliation, and collaborates closely with project managers, procurement, accounting, and contractors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and experienced in applying cost-control procedures in a construction or capital-project environment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and reconcile contractor and consultant invoices against contracts, schedules of value, change orders, and established procedures.
- Identify discrepancies in pay applications and coordinate with project managers and contractors to resolve issues.
- Validate progress invoices for compliance with contract requirements, allowances, contingencies, and Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build contract structures.
- Review, update, and distribute project cost reports, cost records, and specialized spreadsheets.
- Process contractor change order requests and coordinate alignment with monthly billing cycles.
- Monitor board-approved contract limits to ensure change orders and invoice adjustments remain within approved thresholds.
- Prepare monthly accruals, journal entries, cost reallocations, and reconciliations; support year-end close and audit requirements.
- Manage contract requisitions, task authorizations, amendments, commitments, and financial documentation.
- Assist with project close-out activities, cost variance analysis, and final cost reconciliations.
- Coordinate onboarding of contractors and communicate cost-management procedures, including preparing slides and documentation as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between project managers, contractors, procurement, and accounting to ensure timely processing of payments, retainage releases, and contract modifications.
