The Material Engineer is responsible in ensuring that all materials used in the project is compliant with the project specifications and approved by all relevant authorities as bound necessary.
Job Duties
- Review and approval of the Contractor’s proposed materials and method statements as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
- General oversight of the Contractor’s daily activities including works assignments, on-site performance and guidance on the supervision of the Contractor’s operations.
- Attend factory visits, suppliers plant inspection as required
- Follow up testing (Laboratoty witness) and approvals from the relevant authorities
- Review of Contractor’s testing requests and subsequent completed reports.
- Review and Approval of the Contractor’s Submissions as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
- Monitoring the performance of the material delivery and accuracy of materials used at site
- Coordination with Contractor’s Quality personnel regarding schedule, sequence and method of work.
- Monitoring conformance with the Contractor’s schedule.
- Continuous Field Inspections of the work in the progress and consultation with both the Resident Engineer’s and Contractor’s supervisory staff.
- Preparation of written and oral reports to the Resident Engineer on contractual and procedural matters.
- Assist Assistant Resident Engineer and Resident Engineer in the preparation of any correspondence in compliance with the contract documents.
- Where site problems are found, work with the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer to resolve them promptly.
- Maintain records of materials tests performed and executed works.
- Audit inspections for conformity to contract documents and contractor submitted plans.
- Issue Non Conformance Report (NCR) if material, workmanship found unsatisfactory
