AECOM is seeking Construction and Compliance Advisors to support long‑haul fiber construction projects for a major hyperscaler. Inspectors will act as independent field representatives, responsible for daily observation, documentation, and verification of compliance with engineering standards, construction specifications, and safety requirements. The responsibilities are based on the hyperscaler's detailed inspection and quality assurance scope.
This role will require travel, sometimes overnight, to project sites within the assigned geography (Northeast, Midwest, West, South). A fleet truck will be provided.
This program is expected to begin April / May 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Advise, Monitor & Report
- Advise Project Team on overall progress, potential challenges and solutions related to civil construction and fiber cable installation.
- Conduct daily site visits to assigned work locations to verify construction activities meet the required construction standards.
- Monitor project progress and document any above‑ or below‑grade facility damage.
- Escalate critical issues using the provided escalation form.
- Submit daily Field Reports summarizing all inspection activities and recorded information.
Civil Construction Oversight
Observe conduit installation, including construction methods, weekly run rates, conduit location/depth, and manhole/handhole compliance with design specifications.
Fiber Cable Installation Oversight
- Monitor installation of fiber optic cable, ensuring:
- Cable type matches design
- Proper installation methods and equipment
- Proper placement of slack loops
- Correct cable labeling
- Identification of any cable irregularities
Splicing Oversight
- Observe fiber splicing activities, verifying splice completion, splice point locations, tray layout, and enclosure/ODF labeling.
ILA (Inline Amplifier) Site Inspection
- Conduct site visits during ILA construction phases.
- Perform pass/fail inspections covering:
- Overall site conditions and security
- Shelter installation
- Equipment installation and grounding
- Cable routing and labeling
- Electrical, security, fire protection, and fiber system testing
Health & Safety Compliance
- Meet all OSHA and AHJ requirements while onsite.
- Report observed non‑compliance with safety requirements, as required.

GIS‑Based Data Collection
- Use hyperscaler‑provided GIS tools and inspection forms for accurate documentation and reporting.
