We are looking for a highly skilled Rock Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a balanced experience in geotechnical design and site reconnaissance, with expertise in geological mapping, rock mechanics, and geotechnical investigations. This role requires proficiency in advanced software tools, international standards, and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions for complex infrastructure projects across the GCC region.
- Perform specific and limited portions of broader engineering assignments under moderate supervision.
- Gather and analyze basic engineering data using established procedures.
- Identify discrepancies in results and propose solutions to new technical problems.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and ensure deliverables meet budget and schedule requirements.
Technical Expertise
- Conduct site reconnaissance and geological mapping with a focus on rock mechanics and rock mass classification systems.
- Develop computer-aided geological models, profiles, and cross-sections using tools such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or Leapfrog.
- Perform rock slope stability and rock fall analyses, and design mitigation measures such as barriers, mesh, and anchors.
- Conduct geotechnical investigations, including in-situ and laboratory testing, and interpret results to define geotechnical design parameters.
- Prepare geotechnical design reports, specifications, BoQs, and technical proposals.
- Design rock slope support for open cuts and provide geohazard and terrain hazard assessments.
- Prepare contracts for geotechnical investigations, surveys, and construction works.
Software Proficiency
- Utilize RocScience Suite, including RocFall (2D/3D), Dips, RocPlane, SWedge, RocTopple, RSData, and Slide2/3 (or Slope/W).
- Work with AutoCAD and ArcGIS for geological mapping and spatial data management.
- (Preferred) Experience with Leapfrog for 3D geological modelling.
Standards & Compliance
- Apply international geotechnical and rock mechanics codes and standards (e.g., Eurocode 7, ISRM, AASHTO, BS 5930, QCS).
- Ensure compliance with local licensing and statutory requirements in Qatar, Bahrain, and UAE.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, tunnelling, and hydrology experts.
- Liaise with contractors, clients, and local authorities to ensure project approvals and compliance.
