AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager for our Detroit office. The qualified applicant will bring extensive experience delivering large-scale municipal water and wastewater infrastructure programs, including treatment and conveyance systems, and will possess a strong background in capital improvement program (CIP) development, regulatory coordination, and multidisciplinary team leadership.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success managing complex infrastructure portfolios and partnering with municipal stakeholders, utility operators, governing boards, and regulatory agencies to advance critical water infrastructure initiatives.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the planning, design, and construction management of complex municipal water and wastewater treatment infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical oversight of multidisciplinary teams supporting large-diameter water transmission systems, pump stations, storage facilities (ground storage tanks and reservoirs), delivery systems, valves, and associated controls.
- Oversee capital programs consisting of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with client CIP objectives and long-term infrastructure strategies.
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and provide senior-level QA/QC review of design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Develop construction cost estimates, engineering budgets, schedules, and technical effort projections.
- Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure constructability and long-term system reliability.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to project engineers and technical staff.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for municipal clients, utility districts, and governing boards.
- Lead partnering meetings with municipalities, customers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Support public presentations, board meetings, and technical briefings related to infrastructure planning, regulatory compliance, and capital investments.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities aligned with regional growth strategy.
- Support and lead proposal efforts, including technical approach development, scope definition, and fee estimates.
- Drive repeat business by ensuring high client satisfaction and proactive communication throughout project delivery.
