Big Companies Reporter
MarketWatch is seeking a curious and ambitious reporter to join its companies team to cover the business of the major corporations that form the backbone of the U.S. economy โ from the strategies they pursue to the financials that move markets and the customers they serve.
You'll cover some of the biggest U.S. corporations and the financial forces driving their stocks, earnings and consumer relationships. That includes household names such as Walmart and Costco, industrial giants like GE and Caterpillar, and consumer finance leaders including Visa and American Express.
This is a high-profile position that requires ambition and an entrepreneurial spirit. You will need the range to view the economy through a wide lens and the rigor to dig into topics like major bankruptcies, how policies out of Washington affect sectors of the economy and how shifts in consumer behavior reshape corporate strategy (and vice versa).
Can you break news, provide smart analysis and identify trends while explaining to readers what it all means for the economy and consumers? Then this is the ideal role for you.
You'll publish articles on earnings and stock performance, but you'll also go beyond the daily news cycle and drive enterprise reporting on issues that matter.
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in financial journalism, with a strong understanding of business strategy, capital markets and public filings. Prior experience covering companies is required.
The role is based in New York.
