Role Overview
The Manufacturing & Operations Manager is a leadership role responsible for end-to-end manufacturing, operations, and process development for high-volume finished goods. This position oversees a complex manufacturing ecosystem that includes contract manufacturing partners and internal manufacturing of disposable products, as well as capital equipment production involving hardware, software-enabled systems, molded components, and finished goods assembly.
The role owns manufacturing operations strategy, process development, supply and logistics management, capacity and resource planning, and capital/equipment planning. This leader establishes scalable systems, processes, and KPIs to support growth while ensuring regulatory compliance, quality, cost efficiency, and operational excellence. The position is also responsible for OTC setup and SAP material, BOM, routing, and master data configuration.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing, Operations & Process Development
⢠Develop and execute manufacturing, operations, and process development activities to support high-volume finished goods and capital equipment productionĀ
⢠Design scalable operating models across internal manufacturing and external contract manufacturersĀ
⢠Lead make-versus-buy decisions, manufacturing footprint strategy, and capacity expansion planningĀ
⢠Establish standardized manufacturing processes, controls, and governance modelsĀ
⢠Drive process development from concept through production release, including documentation and validationĀ
Contract Manufacturing Management
⢠Select, onboard, and manage contract manufacturing partners for components, subassemblies, and finished goodsĀ
⢠Negotiate contracts, pricing, capacity commitments, and service-level agreements (SLAs)Ā
⢠Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, compliance, and scalability metricsĀ
⢠Lead continuous improvement, cost reduction, and yield improvement initiativesĀ
⢠Establish risk mitigation, dual sourcing, and contingency plansĀ
Internal Manufacturing & Assembly Operations
⢠Oversee internal manufacturing of disposable products and in-house assembly operationsĀ
⢠Manage production planning, scheduling, labor allocation, and shop floor executionĀ
⢠Ensure effective integration of molded components, hardware, software-enabled systems, and final assemblyĀ
⢠Implement lean manufacturing, standard work, and productivity improvementsĀ
⢠Ensure compliance with quality systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirementsĀ
Capital Equipment & Technology Enablement
⢠Lead manufacturing strategy for capital equipment including mechanical hardware, electronics, and software-enabled systemsĀ
⢠Partner with Engineering on DFM, DFA, and DFSĀ
⢠Support equipment validation, testing, and production ramp-upĀ
⢠Ensure manufacturing readiness for hardware-software integrationĀ
Supply Chain, Logistics & Materials Management
⢠Own sourcing, inventory, supplier development, and cost control strategiesĀ
⢠Oversee inbound/outbound logistics, warehousing, and distributionĀ
⢠Balance service levels, inventory turns, and working capitalĀ
⢠Lead demand planning and S&OP processesĀ
Capacity, Resource & Capital Planning
⢠Lead capacity planning for people, equipment, tooling, and facilitiesĀ
⢠Develop and manage capital equipment plans including ROI justificationĀ
⢠Partner with Finance on budgets and forecastsĀ
Manufacturing KPIs & Performance Management
⢠Define and track KPIs including OEE, yield, scrap, cost, and on-time deliveryĀ
⢠Establish dashboards and operating rhythmsĀ
⢠Drive corrective actions through root cause analysisĀ
Systems, OTC & SAP Enablement
⢠Own OTC manufacturing setup to support order fulfillmentĀ
⢠Lead SAP setup including material masters, BOMs, routings, and production versionsĀ
⢠Ensure data accuracy and cross-functional alignmentĀ
Cross-Functional & People Leadership
⢠Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, and FinanceĀ
⢠Support NPI, transfers, and scale-upĀ
⢠Build and lead high-performing teamsĀ
Required Qualifications
⢠10+ years of manufacturing and operations leadership experienceĀ
⢠Experience managing contract manufacturers and supplier networksĀ
⢠Proven success in high-volume finished goods and capital equipment manufacturingĀ
⢠Hands-on process development and industrialization experienceĀ
⢠OTC process experienceĀ
Preferred Qualifications
⢠Experience with disposable or regulated productsĀ
⢠SAP manufacturing and material master experienceĀ
⢠Experience with capital equipment involving hardware, software, molded components, and assemblyĀ
⢠Experience in FDA-regulated environments (GMP, QSR, 21 CFR Part 820 / 210 / 211)Ā
⢠Familiarity with FDA audits and inspectionsĀ
⢠Lean or Six Sigma certificationĀ
