Staff Design Evaluation Engineer â Battery Management Systems**
Overview
Come develop technology solutions that solve planetary scale problems in the Analog Devices Battery Management Systems (BMS) business unit. The electric vehicle and green-energy revolution is here, and we are changing the world with our industry leading battery monitoring technology. The automotive Battery Management Systems (BMS) group at Analog Devices develops ultra-high performance instrumentation ICs that measure battery cell voltages and currents in and around the high-voltage battery pack of electric vehicles.
Position Summary
The Staff Design Evaluation Engineer is responsible for defining, developing, and executing evaluation methodologies for BMS integrated circuits and subsystems. This role requires observational skills, analytical thinking, structured problemâsolving capability, and the ability to independently resolve complex mixedâsignal and system-level issues. The engineer will drive design and implementation of hardware and software evaluation platforms, characterize silicon performance, debug functional anomalies, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust product performance throughout the development lifecycle.
The position involves substantial handsâon lab engagement, exploration of technical root causes, systemâlevel thinking, and leadership in evaluation strategy and executionâdirectly influencing BMS IC maturity, reliability, and release readiness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Evaluation Planning and System Development: Lead the definition and architecture of endâtoâend evaluation solutionsâincluding schematics, systemâlevel test plans, automation approaches, embedded interfaces, and hardware platformsâfor BMS ICs and multiâIC systems.
2. Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Drive alignment on debug strategies and evaluation requirements across multiple engineering disciplines, and provide expert-level guidance to design, systems, test engineering, applications, quality, reliability, and product engineering teams regarding evaluation findings and risk assessments.
3. Silicon Characterization and Bench Execution : Independently execute detailed benchâlevel characterization of BMS ICs, validating critical BMS system behaviors including cell monitoring, balancing accuracy, safety feature performance, and systemâlevel interactions.
4. Data Analysis, Debug, and Correlation : Perform advanced data analysis to identify anomalies, patterns, and deviations in performance; employ strong critical thinking to isolate root causes and correlate measurements & simulation and production results.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Present findings to key stakeholders and develop formal documentations.
