The Group:
The charter of ADIâs CSS team is to lead the market in several technology domains with highly differentiated sensing and signal processing solutions. Today these technology areas include Capacitive Sensing, Optical Image Stabilization, Optical sensing, Audio, Capacitance or Laser Driving, and Power, which drive growth in our portable Consumer business. The position :
The group is seeking an experienced Principal Analog IC Design Engineer with deep expertise in powerâmanagement analog design to develop nextâgeneration PMICs for portable consumer applications. The role includes direct engagement with Tierâ1 OEMs and opportunities for supervisory and mentoring responsibilities.
Responsibilities :
General Responsibilities
Working within an analog/mixed-signal design team based in our Catania (Italy), Sophia Antipolis (France), Edinburgh (Scotland), and Newbury (England) sites.Â
Definition and architecture development of high-performance mixed signal devices.Â
IC block design, transistor-level circuit design and simulation.âŻÂ
Conducting technical presentations to ADIâs internal engineering team and customers.Â
Using recommended design and verification techniques, tools & flows to produce efficient designs which meet all specified functional, power and timing objectives.Â
Successful integration of blocks into larger mixed-signal systems.Â
Supporting other job functions such as layout, lab evaluation and test to ensure successful delivery meeting all requirements.Â
Continuing to improve analog design methodologies consistent with the groupâs wider business objectives to reduce time and cost to market.Â
Power Design Responsibilities (Core Focus)
Architect, design, and validate highâperformance powerâmanagement circuits, including:
Switching regulators (buck/boost, multiâmode/multiâphase, highâefficiency converters)
Lowâdropout regulators (LDOs) for lowânoise and highâPSRR applications
Charge pumps and related switchedâcapacitor converter architectures
Develop closedâloop control architectures, including compensation strategies, loopâstability optimization, and transientâresponse enhancement.
Drive innovation in ultraâlowâpower, fastâtransient, and highâefficiency power designs tailored to demanding portable consumer applications.
Collaborate closely with system architects to define endâtoâend power architectures and ensure seamless integration into complex mixedâsignal SoCs.
Lead power block bringâup, silicon debug, and optimization to achieve bestâinâclass performance across process, voltage, and temperature variations.
RequirementsÂ
Electronic Engineering degree with 10+ yearsâ experience as an analog/mixed signal IC designer.Â
Deep and demonstrable expertise in powerâmanagement circuit design, including switching regulators, LDOs, charge pumps, and associated controlâloop architectures (required core competency, not optional).
Design experience with circuits such as amplifiers, DACs, ADCs, bandgaps, bias circuits, etc., is an advantage.Â
Strong people leadership, inter-personal, teamwork and communication skills are required to work well within a multi-site cross functional team.Â
The successful candidate will be expected to take a full cell or system ownership role and contribute to the development of new products from architecture selection to implementation and debug.Â
Experience integrating powerâmanagement and analog blocks into complex SoCs or microcontroller systems is a strong advantage.
Some limited travel should be expected.
