The Strategy & Operations Manager, South Korea is a pivotal role that will work both deeply and cross-functionally to drive the entry and growth of Airwallex â one of the worldâs top payment technology companies â in the dynamic South Korea market.
You will work closely with our commercial, operations, product and regional APAC teams across a wide range of responsibilities, from market sizing and go-to-market design to dayâtoâday execution and continuous improvement. This is a highly visible, high-impact role for someone who enjoys building 0â1, thrives in ambiguity and wants to help shape Airwallexâs footprint in North Asia.
This role is based in South Korea.
Shape South Korea market strategy
Size, define and map the South Korea market; develop our understanding of key verticals, competitors, ideal customer profiles, compelling use cases and revenue opportunities across Airwallexâs products (global accounts, FX, payments, issuing, treasury, etc.).
Lead go-to-market execution
Work collaboratively with local and international cross-functional teams to plan and drive our goâtoâmarket in South Korea â including defining country plays, coordinating launch milestones, managing timelines, tracking progress and driving accountability across stakeholders.
Partner on customer onboarding and operations
Partner closely with the operations, risk, compliance and implementation teams to design and deliver a seamless onboarding and activation experience for Korean customers, ensuring we balance customer experience with regulatory and risk requirements.
Localise and scale core processes
Adapt and localise existing Airwallex processes from other regions (e.g. lead management, pipeline hygiene, pricing/approvals, forecasting, incentive design) to support scalable commercial activities and operational excellence in South Korea.
Drive productâmarket fit in Korea
Identify productâmarket fit for Airwallex products in South Korea; work with customers and prospects to deeply understand local needs, collate market feedback and translate this into clear, prioritised product requirements to help drive growth in the market.
Run high-quality analysis and decision support
Use data and structured problem solving to answer key business questions (e.g. market sizing, pricing, unit economics, sales productivity, channel performance) and provide executives with clear, actionable recommendations for the Korea business.
Own cross-functional projects end to end
Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives (e.g. new vertical entry, partnership structures, new product launches, process reâdesign), driving alignment across stakeholders and ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery.
Weâre looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications below. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but not mandatory.
5+ years of experience in strategy and/or operations roles â for example, topâtier strategy/management consulting or inâhouse strategy / operations in highâgrowth technology, fintech or financial services companies.
Strategic and analytical problem solver with a track record of structuring ambiguous problems, running rigorous analysis (quantitative and qualitative) and turning insights into clear recommendations and execution plans.
Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in international teams and across multiple time zones, balancing inputs from commercial, product, operations, risk and regional leadership.
Language: Fluent Korean and business-level English, with the ability to synthesise and communicate complex ideas in a simple, compelling way â both in writing and verbally.
High ownership and bias to action â you are a selfâstarter who can independently identify, prioritise and execute on the highestâimpact opportunities, and you are comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get things done in a fastâmoving environment.
Commercial acumen, including comfort working with revenue, cost and profitability drivers, and supporting goâtoâmarket initiatives or commercial proposals.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with people at all levels and across cultures, and influencing decisions without direct authority.
Education: Bachelorâs degree or equivalent practical experience.
More senior candidates may be considered for Strategy & Operations Senior Manager, based on experience and interview performance.
