Get to Know the Role
We are looking for a Manager, Category Management to drive category selection, assortment strategy, product sourcing and supplier management across regional markets.
This role is based onsite and reports to the Head of Category Management.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Category Strategy & Execution
- Develop both short-term (quarterly) and long-term (annual) plans for the assigned category, aligned with overall business priorities and customer needs.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and consumer insights to refine category positioning and maintain competitiveness.
- Set clear KPIs for category performance (GMV, contribution margin, fill rates, supplier participation) and take corrective actions when needed.
- Define pricing and promotion frameworks in coordination with Strategy & Growth to drive both top-line and profitability.
- Lead category reviews with internal stakeholders (supply chain, marketing, product, finance) to align on opportunities and risks.
- Partner with Group Category Management to leverage regional supplier agreements and translate them into local execution.
- Identify and incubate new sub-categories or niche opportunities to broaden assortment and capture emerging demand (e.g., specialty diets in Pets, organic products in FMCG).
- Supplier & Partner Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and regional suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, promotions, and service-level agreements to maximize category profitability.
- Assortment & Merchandising
- Build a balanced assortment strategy that ensures availability of staples, introduces innovation (new brands/products), and differentiates our platform with exclusives.
- Apply data-driven assortment planning: analyze customer behavior, sales velocity, and basket composition to decide which SKUs to expand, reduce, or rotate.
- Ensure local relevance: adapt assortment to reflect cultural preferences, festive seasons, and country-specific regulations (e.g., Pharma or M&B categories).
- Work with suppliers and marketing to design joint business plans, including seasonal campaigns, bundles, and new product launches.
- Optimize online merchandising by improving product content (images, descriptions), shelf sequencing, and search visibility.
- Partner with the Loyalty/Ads specialist to create category-led campaigns (e.g., repeat purchase programs, category sponsorships).
- Continuously monitor stock health (slow movers, overstock) and partner with operations on clearance or alternative strategies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure supply availability and fulfillment efficiency.
- Collaborate with product and tech teams to enhance customer discovery and ordering experience.
